The advantage of staying healthy is that it reduces the risk of obesity, joint and heart issues. Additionally, it boosts up the energy levels and reduces fatigue. Healthy eating habits also reflect on the skin. It makes skin look healthy and reduces aging. Recent studies show that eating healthy also improves mental health. It leads to a more positive outlook on lifestyle.

I want to put together a little roundup of my best healthy comfort food recipes. You could enjoy these recipes while staying on track.

1- CHICKEN PASTA WITH VEGGIES:

Pasta is like that friend which sets the mood for the day when you seek comfort. It is the perfect coziest food anyone can have on their blues. You are going to love me for reassuring you that pasta doesn’t make you fat or unhealthy. But eating it without the proper balance of macronutrients makes you gain weight. Here the hack is sneaking an extra amount of fibers (veggies) and protein (chicken). These 2 changes bring out healthier versions of pasta.

2- OATS CHOCOLATE CAKE:

People who dream of submerging in the heap of chocolate like me. Particularly can understand the sense of deprivation one feels while practicing healthy eating. I had 2 chocolate mug cakes the previous week even though I was on a calorie deficit. The key was to swap flour with oats and chocolate with a better alternative dark chocolate. The best part is you can eat it without trapping yourself in the guilt that I messed up my whole healthy diet.

3- BIRYANI:

Biryani is not a food, it is an emotion. Yesterday I tried this recipe when I came back from work all tired and hungry. But this pan biryani took away the fatigue off my shoulders because it was finger licking yummy. You just need onion, tomato, rice, yoghurt, chicken and some spices and then you are good to go. I made it within 20 mins. It is perfect for the time when you are in a rush or starving. so instead of ordering unhealthy foods you can make it and enjoy it while staying on track.

The key is to limit the amount of oil and add ample amounts of chicken/beef while limiting the amount of carbs (rice).

  4- BURGER:

Here comes what you must be looking for, “BURGERRR’’!! who says you can’t eat burgers when optioning for a healthy diet. Let’s swift to the easiest recipe of burger that’s going to make you rush to the kitchen every weekend.

Chop: spring onions, lettuce, carrot (or any suitable veggie you like).

Chicken/meat/fish whatever you like and how ever you like: Minced/chopped/fillet

For sauce: try to use light mayo/olive mayo/ chili garlic sauce as these have lesser calories

For seasoning: you can use black pepper/soya sauce/salt/vinegar as per your preference

You can use cheese as well but keep in mind to take it in moderation as it is high in fat.

5- PANCAKES:

My favorite breakfast for Sunday are fluffy pancakes. They are warm, sweet, fluffy and ear lobe soft which make them perfect comfort food. You need to take milk, oats, banana, 1 tbsp baking powder, 1 tbsp cinnamon powder and a pinch of salt. I prefer to add 15-20g dark chocolate on top as I love chocolate melting in my mouth with the crunch of oats.

And that’s it you can now relax and enjoy it on your comfy couch with your favorite Netflix series.

CONCLUSION:

The synopsis of this article is to make healthy choices. To eat mindful instead of eliminating carbs and fats completely from diet. Because carbs are the main source of energy. Likewise, fats are a very important macronutrient for hormones.

In summary, positive eating habits not only shine through a fit and disease-free body. It also reflects positive emotional and mental well-being. You feel more energetic, active and it also improves a person’s mood and eventually overall life.
