5 Essential Items You Should Never Travel Without

Travelling is an enriching journey, and bringing the essential travel items makes the trip much more enjoyable. Whether you are travelling on a two-week or six-month backpacking trip, these essential items make your trip less stressful and more fun. Here are five things you should never travel without.

1.   Universal Adaptor

A universal adaptor is an absolute must-have. On your travels, you will be carrying some technological gadgets (a phone, camera, tablet, or laptop). Universal adaptors will allow you to charge the battery of your device from any power outlet worldwide.  Always have it in your carry-on so you can charge it when needed. It is also a good idea to include a double adaptor or a power board if you know you will be charging many electrical devices.

2.   Reusable Water Bottle

You should carry a reusable water bottle when you go hiking or on a full-day trip to explore. These bottles are not only better for the environment and have a significant advantage over cheap, clear plastic water bottles: they keep your water cold, even in scorching places. When your bottle is empty, fill it with clean, filtered water. You are helping the environment and staying fit at the same time. Drink at least eight glasses of water while flying or driving.

3.   Hand Sanitizer

When travelling to new places, you never know what toilet scenarios you will face, especially if you are in a hurry. Assume you are in a position where there is a toilet, but no place to wash your hands, and the nearest water source is miles away. Here, you need a hand sanitizer to disinfect your hands and free them from hazardous germs. You will also likely touch certain surfaces that many other people have touched. If you have a hand sanitizer, you can rub it on your hands afterward to avoid infection.

 4.   Emergency Cash

On a trip, it is usually a good idea to have some money. Although credit cards are accepted almost universally, you may still come upon a place that does not. Then there is the situation where you are on vacation in a third-world country, and you are shopping at a street market, or you are at an all-inclusive resort, and you will need cash. To be safe, it is a good idea to carry some cash in case your credit card or ATM goes out of service.

5.   Comfortable Waterproof Shoes

To have a good time on vacation, you should wear comfy shoes. Sturdy, fashionable, and comfortable soles are, of course, substantial. Waterproof shoes, on the other hand, are a hassle-free friend. You do not have to be worried if it rains or if you have to cross/walk on a dirty street because you can easily clean them and remain protected. Investing in decent waterproof shoes is a good idea whether you hike or not and whether you travel in the off-season (autumn or spring) or winter.

Conclusion

With a smart plan, packing can be less burdensome and even part of the adventure. This is just a small list of travel essentials that I would recommend to any traveller! Everyone, on the other hand, has their tastes. Make sure to bring whatever you think will make your trip more fun and comfortable. I hope you like this list of carry-on essentials.
