It is very easy to get caught up and lose yourself in the whirlwind of motherhood. If you are a stay at home mom, tending to kids and home chores becomes a never-ending cycle. While it’s very easy to get addicted to doom-scrolling on social media apps during your free time, it can leave you more drained. Here are five different hobbies you can pursue to nourish your mind, body and soul. Go reclaim your spark back mama!
Gardening
Gardening is a great way to cultivate calm and grounding yourself in nature. Planting flowers, vegetables and herbs will teach you sustainability. It is not only therapeutic and healing but also a great way to teach your kids where food and flowers come from.Start with a few pots of plants or a tiny yard garden and go along to nurture your green thumb.
Cooking
You might be tired of cooking daily meals and tending to the endless demand of snacks for little ones to consider a hobby in your “workspace” aka kitchen. But I swear by the sheer joy of trying a new recipe. The exposure to various ingredients and cooking techniques will get your creative juices flowing. It can be a fun and interactive way to create lasting memories with your family. You will look forward to cooking delicious and nourishing meals for your family.
Yoga
As a mom, it is crucial to make your health a priority. The ancient practice of Yoga will be great for your overall well being . The combination of physical movement, deep breathing and meditation will help you relax your mind and stretch your body. Enroll in a local studio or an online yoga class to get started. Youtube has some amazing channels that teach you yoga and meditation for free too. My kids love to bring their mats and join me during my yoga sessions. It’s such a moment to connect with my kids.
Painting
You might doubt your painting skills but just start basic. Get some brushes and canvas and get started. Playing with different strokes and colors won’t be just fun, it will heal your inner child too. Who knows you might tap into your artistic side and unlock some serious talent. Arranging a fun painting activity with your family will be a great way to spend quality time together away from screens.
Reading
As someone who lived for reading during childhood, taking it up again as a hobby has been the best thing I could do for myself. Start with 10 minutes of reading each day either fiction, non-fiction or a mix of both according to your preference.. Just grab your mug of coffee and book and get lost in a different dimension for a short while.
Lastly,
It’s crucial to your well-being that you engage in these hobbies. Motherhood and home-making might be your first priority but it’s just as important to make time for activities that can help you find the pink you lost. If you know, you know. Hehe
Have fun!
