5 WARDROBE ESSENTIALS FOR MONSOON
I know that the idea of monsoon season seems very picturesque in movies and books but it is far from that. No one likes being drenched from head to toe with muddy feet and frizzy hair. However, the cloudy days, the pitter patter of the rain and the humidity should not stop us from dressing up and going out.
Like Rachel Carson says, a rainy day is the perfect time for a walk in the woods or in our case, sprucing up our wardrobes and flaunting it. I have gathered a list of essentials to oomph up your wardrobe this monsoon season, so you can be fashionable while strutting in the rain.
1. Wear Lighter Fabrics:-
The right kind of fabric can make even the heaviest of downpours bearable. Skip out on the heavy silks and denims that take forever to dry. Rather opt for breathable fabrics like cotton, rayon and linens that are flowy and lightweight.
Tip: Avoid see-through clothes.
2. Vibrant Colours Are Your Best Friend:-
Who says we cannot wear bright coloured clothes on a rainy day. A gray cloud gives us all the more reason to put on a colourful dress that makes us stand out like a neon sign, in a good way. You can make bold statements by wearing a combination of two to three solid colours or go for something bright with something white. Needless to say, the options are unlimited.
3. Good Shoes Take You Good Places:-
No one likes to walk around in damp and soaking shoes. Hence, my go-to quintessential item is a good pair of washable and colourful flips flops or sandals. Some honorable mentions include rubber or plastic sandals, crocs and rain boots.
4. Accessories Make Everything Better:-
What monsoon wardrobe would be complete without an umbrella? Now, I know a plain umbrella can do its job just fine, but an eye-catching and patterned one would make the walk in the rain so much more fun. Ask yourself, why be ordinary when you can be extraordinary?
Finally, put on a rain coat for extra protection. You can buy a stylish rain coat that keeps your clothes dry and crisp. Also, a practical canvas tote or vinyl bag can do the job of carrying all your essentials without damaging them.
5. Give Your Skin A Little Love:-
Along with amping up your wardrobe, make sure to upgrade your skincare and beauty products as well. Apply a good SPF to protect your skin. Just because it is raining doesn’t mean those harmful UV rays won’t get to you. Go for light-weight moisturisers and makeup products like BB or CC creams. Embrace the “no makeup” makeup look.
Conclusion:
If these items weren’t already a part of your wardrobe, it’s never too late to go get them. Let’s make the most out of these rains and not be afraid to get a little wet. Like I say, if you want the rainbow, you have to put up with the rain.
