The Netflix sci-fi series Stranger Things is set to release season 5. There haven't been many Netflix shows that have launched this many seasons while maintaining a good reputation. So the question is does Strangers Things appeal to new viewers? Are the old viewers excited for season 5? Does it still shine on TV or is it losing its momentum?
I bring you a crisp and brief Stranger Things review to answer these questions.
The series is all about supernatural elements, mystery, and 1980s music. The story takes place in Hawkings Indiana where a lab experiment opens a gate between the earth and the alternate dimension “upside down”.
During this, a monster named Demogorgan plagues the earth, and a small kid gets trapped in an alternate dimension. Then the kids’ mother, chief police, and his friends set out to find the missing boy. Along with them comes a telekinetic girl named Eleven (the heart of the show) who unravels the dark secret and closes the gate.
With amazing storytelling, the creator of this show has always grasped the viewer’s attention. At the end of every episode, they have left cliffhangers that keep viewers at the end of their seats. The series not only focuses on thrillers and mystery but also shows heartwarming friendships and romance.
What sets this series apart is amazing character development. Each character has its own story and screen time. Further with all seasons, characters undergo changes that fascinate the audience and they become attached to at least one of them.
For me, the best character was Eleven. Millie Bobby Brown made this character come to life. Without much dialogue but with amazing facial expressions, she made a lot of fans.

Each cast has portrayed the character so well that the audience is emotionally invested in it. A lot of viewers say that they started sympathizing with the characters as they go through challenges. This means this series can appeal to a new audience and still shine on the TV screen.
If you are a music fan, this series will captivate you. Stranger Things featured a lot of 80’s music, creating a sense of nostalgia. Music was used per scene, adding more to each scene. With this classic pop music stranger things can appeal to audiences of all ages.
Another fascinating thing about it was the cinematography. The set was made in such a way that it depicted the old-fashioned 1980s Hawkins, Indiana yet fascinating. The creepy atmosphere of Upside Down was perfectly portrayed. Further visual effects were amazing, the fight scenes seemed so real, and the supernatural element was perfect.
So far, the review highlighted the attractive point of the series. However, some audience members have pointed out the few downsides of the show.
? In every season Eleven shows up to save the day. This pattern has gotten boring for the viewers.
? In every season a new character was introduced and then killed. Viewers commented that the writer is trying to save their main heroes from the creator by presenting them with new characters.
? The kids of Stranger Things are getting old. The cast no longer looks like the age of the characters.
? In season 4 romance conflict was unnecessary. Some viewers commented that it was a forced attempt to create anticipation for the next season.
I am one of those who binge-watch Strangers Things on Netflix. The shows’ storytelling, character portrayal, cinematography, and 80’s music has always captivated me. For four seasons it has been shining on TV. Although the show had some frustrating patterns and scenes. But the viewers still love the show and are eagerly waiting for the next season.
