Extraordinary Attorney Woo on Netflix is a Korean drama that has created a buzz in the past two months. It grew on viewers as they kept watching new episodes every week. In a nut shell, it is a law drama that gives entertaining courtroom procedural with lots of twists and turns.

As the name suggests, this drama series mainly revolves around an extraordinary attorney, Woo Young Woo. She is a 27-year-old autistic girl who works as a junior attorney in a law firm. Upon watching it you will get to know why she is "extraordinary".

This k-drama on Netflix consists of one season and sixteen episodes. Each episode primarily focuses on different cases that aren't stretched at all and each case ends within the episode. So, let's discuss whether this drama series is worth investing your time and energy or not.

LIKEABLE CHARACTERS:

Woo young woo is an autistic attorney who effortlessly cracks cases by focusing on details and loopholes that nobody else can spot. Her character brings to life an inner world, that we don't get to see very often on screen. 

·        Lee Jun-Ho:

Extraordinary attorney woo cast includes Kang Tae Oh who has played the role of Lee Jun-Ho. The male lead of this series has set bars very high. He is caring, supportive, friendly, handsome and has every other trait you would like to see in a male lead character.

 

·        Choi Su Yeon:

Choi Su Yeon is shown to be a character of a very supportive colleague-cum- friend. She is never jealous of her colleagues specifically Woo Young Woo. However, she empathizes with her and usually helps her at the workplace.

 

·        Dong Geu Rami:

We all love a good female friendship bond and here extraordinary attorney woo has given us an unforgettable character of Dong Geu Rami. Her character is the childhood friend of Woo Young Woo, who supports her in every way possible.

 

·        Jung Myung Seuk:

He is a senior attorney at the law firm and Attorney Woo's boss. Though at first, he was reluctant to take Attorney Woo in his team but later on he has become a supportive mentor to her.

 

PORTRAYAL OF AUTISM:

This drama has highlighted ableism and created awareness about autism spectrum disorder. The majority of viewers were unaware of this word and they get to know about the such disorder for once through this drama. However, some feel like drama makers has stereotyped the mannerism of people who are on the spectrum.

SUBTITLES:

For some viewers, the major downside of this drama series is that it is not dubbed. However, there are several languages for subtitles to choose from. On the contrary, k-drama viewers prefer watching with subtitles even if it is dubbed. Once you get a hang of it, subtitles don't bother you.

Similarly, the relationship between the main female lead and her single father is heartwarming to watch.

This drama consists of various subplots that are not only interesting but important too. They keep viewers hooked on the storyline of side characters too without losing the essence of the main plot.

PORTRAYAL OF SOCIETY:

This drama has done a stellar job in portrayal of the harsh reality of society toward people with disabilities. Moreover, it has showcased our patriarchal society and gender discrimination too.

STELLAR PERFORMANCES:

Extraordinary Attorney Woo's cast includes many talented veteran actors that have given their stellar performances in this drama series. Park Eun-Bi is so good in her role as an autistic attorney Woo Young Woo, that it's hard not to be impressed. Furthermore, the character of an office heartthrob Jun-Ho is played by Kang Tae-Oh. Through his amazing performance, he has set up bars for the main male lead higher than anyone has ever set before.

GREAT VISUALS:

This drama has done a great deal in terms of presenting eye-catching visuals. Whenever the main female lead gets a whale eureka moment, viewers get to see some amazing visuals of huge blue whales.
