Get acquainted with skincare

INTRODUCTION

The literal meaning of skincare is to use some products to have healthy and glowy skin. But in my opinion, the term skincare products or skincare has been demonized for a long time. The reason behind that, when I was a teenager, I always had a thing for skincare. I used to do many DIYS, fruit facials, and God knows what. The problem wasn’t in trying DIYS that would have allergic reactions on my face. But the problem was my mindset. I wanted to have a fairer complexion than I already had, and I wanted to have a pore-less glass skin all the time, which is not achievable because we cannot have glowy skin all the time- and our skin has good and bad days too. long story short, I did every messed-up DIY on my face and had tried every product that I could purchase with my pocket money, without knowing my skin type.

The real question arises, what were the sources behind that mindset. There would be many answers to that question, but my one answer is the lack of knowledge and research.

So, in this blog post series, I will try to convey all the basics of skincare. And, if any teenager is reading this post right now- they will never make mistakes as I did.

WHAT IS A SKINCARE?

Like I said skincare is a process or regimen to have healthy skin. And by healthy means, you will have a healthy glow on it. Healthy skin is not equivalent to having a fair complexion.

Skin types:

To have a proper skincare regimen. It is essential to know your skin type first because if your skin is oily and you are using a dry to combination skin cleanser, that could cause your skin a trauma. There are five major skin types. These are oily, normal, dry, sensitive, and combination skin. However, all skin types are highly dependent on many factors- such as genetics, pollution, internal, and external condition of your body.

Basic skincare regimen

Our skin needs three things to keep on track. First is a cleanser- to cleanse all the dirt- sitting on our faces throughout the day. The second is an exfoliator, we exfoliate our skin every after three days, but using traditional exfoliators may cause skin damage in the long run. This topic needs another blog for that, which I will make later. And the third is wearing SPF. I cannot give enough emphasis on SPF. It is necessary to wear even if it’s rainy days. How important it is to wear an SPF also needs a whole post solely designated on this topic.

CONCLUSION

To conclude, I would highly recommend doing brief research about any new product you are willing to try. First, see if the product is okay for your skin type. Next, see if the ingredients are for your skin or not. And third, do not forget to wear SPF. If you are skipping this step, you would waste your money on the products.
