Makeup is an art, and your skin is a canvas. The artist has to prepare his canvas perfectly to have his perfect masterpiece. That’s why they say flawless makeup starts with a flawless skin, which is absolutely right.
If the foundation of something is set perfectly, everything else falls in place effortlessly.
So, the secret of achieving a flawless makeup is basically prepping your skin. It not only looks good, but it also lasts throughout the day. I'm going to mention the steps to ensure a perfect skin prep routine before you apply your makeup.
The very first step is to cleanse your skin with a cleanser that suits your skin type so that all the oil, dirt, or other foreign particles are removed completely. This ensures a smooth surface for your makeup.
Never ever skip this one!! Exfoliation is very important for all skin types. If you have an oily skin, it will help remove excess oil and open clogged pores and if you have dry skin, it will remove dry skin patches to make the skin even more smooth for makeup application. It will be beneficial if you use a mild exfoliator 2 to 3 times a week for best results. Avoid over exfoliation because it can lead to dryness or skin irritation.
OK! Now, imagine painting on a rough and uneven wood. Even thinking of it feels like torture! Am I right or am I right? So is the case with skin and it's hydration. It's super important to add a moisturizer according to your skin type to keep your skin plump and super soft. Do wait for a few minutes for the moisturizer to get absorbed before proceeding towards the next step.
Do you know that primer is the first makeup product that is applied before the makeup starts? I always used to skip this one because I thought it was the same as moisturizing your skin. But I was wrong. It's main role is to create a barrier between your skin and makeup making it long lasting and smooth. Choose your primer according to your skin type. It comes in hydrating, matte, and pore-filling to get even more smooth appearance.
I had a super chubby face in my early twenties, and I always used to get creases under my eye, and I used to think it's because of my chubby face, LOL! But the main reason was, I didn't used to prep the area under my eyes properly before makeup. The eye cream hydrates and smooths the area under eyes and prevents the foundation to form creases.
A lipstick on chapped lips doesn't appear good due to its uneven texture. So, do exfolite with a lip scrub and apply a lip balm before applying makeup.
Do listen to your skin needs because this routine not only gives your makeup an impeccable look, but it also makes your skin appear even better and healthier. It's a two in one beauty hack, so never skip it, lovelies! Remember, healthy and radiant skin is the foundation of beautiful makeup.
