Is Hospital Playlist Worth The Hype?

Imagine finding a drama that lets you relive the joy of watching Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo! Yes, Hospital Playlist is that critically acclaimed series. You can rewatch it many times without getting bored. From the script to the cast’s performance, everything is so well-crafted that you are going to binge-watch it. Now, let’s move forward with Hospital Playlist review!

1. The Amazing Cast And Crew

We all know how medical dramas sometimes lose their charm after the 7th or 8th episode. The creators did not disappoint us at all. They effortlessly incorporated hospital scenes, past stories, and fun throughout the series.

How can we forget the amazing cast? Every character, be it the doctors as protagonists or the patients getting treatments, was played brilliantly by the actors. My favorite character has to be Ik June, played by Jo Jung Suk. I was most excited about his comeback after four years. His humor and comic timing proved his top-notch acting skills.

Another thing that attracted me was having no antagonist in the series. If you have seen dramas of the same genre, you would be well aware of hospital politics in kdramas. But rest assured, in Hospital playlist the stereotypical villains too played a positive role.

 2. Their Bromance Over Anything

Hospital Playlist is all about bonding between the five doctors in their forties. They met at the start of their med school and have stuck together since then. The thing that binds them is their love for food and music. The revival of their music band brought a symphonic nostalgia to the drama. The actors sang the songs themselves, connecting you more with the characters.

Caution! Do not watch this drama at 3 am because it will make you hungry with its mukbangs. You will find a lot of Samgyeopsal scenes that are shown as a strengthening act for their relations with each other.

Of course, there is romance, but the fights between friends over food and their care for each other add light to the series. You would wish to have such friends after watching it. I loved how they gave each other space despite being so close. Ik Jun and Yang Seok never made Song Hwa uncomfortable because of their feelings for her.

3. Truly A Slice Of Life!

This show remarkably depicted the commitment of doctors to their profession. Despite struggling personally, how compassionate they are with the people! Especially, the character of Ahn Jeong-won aka Daddy Long Legs, who wanted to become a priest. Because he could not see the sufferings of his patients.

This show portrayed the thin line between life and death beautifully. In one scene, you are crying because of the health complications of a patient. In the next scene, you are smiling ear to ear after watching miracles happen.

One thing that I would like to appreciate is Song Hwa, camping alone on weekends. It highlights the importance of connecting to nature and taking rest after doing demanding jobs like 12-hour-long neurological surgeries.

Conclusion

Overall for me, the Hospital Playlist is an 11/10. With a refreshing storyline and top-notch acting, it can easily bring joy to anyone’s boring day. It is just like the Korean ‘Friends’ TV show which can be watched repeatedly. You can watch Hospital Playtish on Netflix and AsianWiki with subtitles.
