Kamli _ the latest Pakistani movie _ is touted as one of the best movies of the industry. This feminocentric movie revolves around three women and their controlled desires. With brilliant cinematography, engaging storytelling, and encapsulating soundtrack, this movie has everything in it. Naturally people are calling it worthy of an Oscar.
The movie is a class in itself and has every ingredient that makes it a blockbuster.
Here are some of the important aspects of the movie that are beautifully amalgamated, making it a masterpiece.
The story is depicted in a coherent and relatable manner through symbolism. The events unfold smoothly and relate with the main plot. The story is about three women : one woman is struggling to find her independence; another has lost her way; and the third one is a staunch follower of morality. The protagonist, Saba Qamar, is in an internal conflict that we can relate to.
The story makes you go through a series of emotions and the events keep you hooked till the end. You never feel that the subplots are dragging the movie; every scene adds value to the central plot. It addresses the voids in our traditional values with a subtlety, making it visually appealing, logical and artistic at the same time. The symbolism has added intellectual depth and artistic flavor to the movie.
The characters in the movie have incredibly proved their mettle. This specially goes true for Saba Qamar, who has again proved to be a versatile actress. There is an amazing chemistry and association among the characters.
Every character has a mystery of its own and is fighting with its own inner conflicts. You feel their emptiness and frustration. There is some depth and darkness in the characters, and you hate and empathize with them equally. Amaltas has played his role really well with great expressions and body language. His chemistry with Hina, the heroine, is amazing and involves brilliant symbolic visuals.
The music of the movie has an emotional depth that boosts it to a new level. The diverse range of artists, singers and musical instruments are brought together to create an amazing soundtrack. Moreover, the songs are appropriately fitted into the scenes, adding to the depiction of emotions of characters. Every songs feels necessary and creates a balance within the narrative.
The cinematography is brilliant, symbolic, and magical. It is a character of its own and successfully takes you in. Each scene holds a purpose and the background complements it. The sad mountains, dense forest, lingering silence, and thickening night is haunting as well as enchanting. You feel wet when it rains, you sway with the breeze, and your heart pounds along with Hina at the first touch of Amaltas. The landscape is filmed beautifully. It has showcased the beauty of the valley in an apt manner
Although Kamli stands out as a masterpiece, there are a few subtle aspects that could have been improved.
The first half of the movie, once makes you feel confused at the happenings. You have to connect some events to get the context. But, as said earlier, in the second half, every scene seems important and relevant to the main plot.
Introducing a debutante against veteran actors was a great challenge for the producers. At some places, the dialogue delivery of Amaltas did not do justice as compared to his co-actors. But, the amazing direction and incredible cinematography did not make the audience feel that subtle difference.

Every character has done an incredible job and makes us overwhelmed after watching the movie. The women characters have some magic, depth and mystery ; we feel their pain, we understand their silence and we associate ourselves with a series of emotions they undergo, especially with Hina, as played by Saba Qamar.
