Top 5 Books On Amazon In 2023

According to the data, this year’s top picks are the following:

  1. Hello Beautiful      by Ann Napolitano

Hello Beautiful by Ann Napolitano | Goodreads

NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER & OPRAH’S BOOK CLUB PICK

Description:

From the author of Dear Edward comes a “powerfully affecting” family story that asks: Can love make a broken person whole? An emotional and engrossing story of a family. Filled with tenderness, Hello Beautiful is a gorgeous portrayal of what’s possible when we choose to love someone not despite who they are, but because of it.

Why Read It?

Themes of depression, terminal illness, true love, forgiveness, and understanding familial bonds are explored thoughtfully. It’s about the pure messiness of life. This heart-wrenching family saga will shake you to the core. The three-dimensional, layered characterization and realistic portrayal make it easy to connect with each character.

The ending is extremely emotional. It makes you view and appreciate the world from different perspectives. If you have a wise heart and enjoy reading sad novels this book is for you. Just read it!

Why Not?

The dark and depressing tone of the book can give you heartache. Some of the characters' selfish choices while others’ selfless choices are frustrating. However, their behaviors are unfortunately realistic.

  1. All the Sinners Bleed    by S.A. Cosby

                              INSTANT NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

Description:

A Southern Gothic murder mystery that talks about race, religion, politics, social injustice, and
small-town policing in the modern era. Titus Crowne, the first Black Sheriff of Charon County, is determined to make a difference while he deals with his past trauma. He is a compelling moral center and the heart of the novel. It also tells how eventually, all sins must be reckoned with, one way or another.

Why Read It?

All The Sinners Bleed is more of a literary thriller. The author does a magnificent job of describing all the nitty-gritty details. It is filled with twists and turns which makes the reader enthralled. A page-turner that keeps the reader guessing and then leaves him rushing to finish. There are a lot of characters and moving parts but it is easy to stay on track.

I assure you that the ending will take you by surprise (as it did to me). If you like a gritty dark crime thriller with a conscience that doesn't beat you over the head with its message, this one's for you.

Why Not?

The author’s lack of geography may bother you if you are really strict about facts. This book has trigger warnings from school shootings to pedophilia and murder which can be heartbreaking for some people. But I believe they were handled well.

  1. Generations: The Real Differences Between Gen Z, Millennials, Gen X, Boomers, and Silents?and What They Mean for America's Future
          by Jean M. Twenge, Ph.D.

https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/61J-trz+5QL._SL1500_.jpg

Description:

A professor of psychology after her 3 decades of research summarizes a groundbreaking, revelatory portrait of the six generations (the Silent Generation, the Baby Boomers, Generation X, the Millenials, Generation Z, and, as she calls them, the Polars) that currently live in the United States. It is about how they connect, conflict, and compete with one another.

Why Read It?

This book offers new perspectives on some topics. It documents the characteristics of each generation by focusing on their various traits. The author uses very informative graphs and evidence to explain those traits. It also mentions that millennials are doing considerably better financially than has generally been reported. Her emphasis on technology is one of the best aspects of the book. So, if you are keen to understand the differences between generations, this book is for you.

Why Not?

If you are not into non-fiction and you are absolutely allergic to data, no matter how clearly laid out then this book isn’t for you.

  1. Weyward
      by Emilia Hart

        INSTANT NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

A LibraryReads March 2023 Pick &An Amazon "Best Books of the Year So Far" 2023 Pick

Description:

Weaving together the stories of three extraordinary women across five centuries, Emilia Hart's Weyward is an enthralling novel about female resilience and the transformative power of the natural world.

Why Read It?

“Weyward” is a story of female empowerment and developing a deep knowledge of the natural world. Although the stories of the three women are centuries apart, they are well-woven and connected in so many different ways. They all are controlled and mistreated by the men in their lives as many women have experienced in the shadows of society and behind closed doors. It’s about finding your inner strength and as these women do, you rejoice with them.

If you enjoy books about powerful women, magic, supernatural, and mother/daughter relationships then don't pass Weyward by! I assure you that you will not want the book to end.

Why Not?

There are a couple of trigger warnings that can be disturbing.

  1. You Have to Be Prepared to Die Before You Can Begin to Live: Ten Weeks in Birmingham That Changed America
    by Paul Kix

https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/81qDOkPuCkL._SL1500_.jpg

Description:

From journalist Paul Kix, the riveting story, never before fully told, of the 1963 Birmingham Campaign?ten weeks that would shape the course of the Civil Rights Movement and the future of America.

Why Read It?

A well-written detailed description of the history of integration in 1963. It magnificently explains the tensions and rivalries between the leaders of the movement. According to the people, the book is highly readable, with a fast-moving plot and deep insights into the key players. The book reads almost like fiction but is entirely factual.

A must-read for those interested in the civil rights movement.

Why Not?

If you are not a history person (like me) then you can have a hard time reading it.

What Points Should Be Kept In Mind Before Buying A Book?

  • Use paid apps only if you are a frequent audiobook listener or an eBook reader.

  • For Audiobook listeners what matters is a great Narrator. A good Narrator is a game changer.

  • If you are a one-time reader, issue books from the nearest library. This way the book’s knowledge will not be confined to only one person.

  • If you love seeing your shelf filled with books (like me), it’s also a worthwhile investment.

  • If you can really afford hardcover books only then invest in them.

Conclusion:

I hope by now you have chosen something to read. Since winter is coming, get yourself a good book and read it while you enjoy your warm cocoa or coffee in your comfy blanket. Don’t forget to tell me what book you read and what was the best thing about that book.
