What to Wear in Fall as Eastern Hijabi

“Autumn carries more gold in its pocket than all the other seasons”___Jim Bishop

To all the goldies aka Eastern ladies out there, Welcome to the family! I am hoping you are preparing your homes and yourself for the upcoming golden days. There are 2 reasons why I’m excited for winter:
One: the refreshing chilly evenings and warm cups of coffee

Two: revamping my wardrobe-Yay!

As a hijabi, I like to hop onto fashion trends but most times, they aren’t very modest. I know for a fact that a lot of you can relate. So I’m going to explain how to embrace the season’s colors and trends so you don’t feel left behind while sticking to your modest dressing principles.

1. Fall Colour Palette

You can create unexpected and eye-catching looks by mixing neutrals with warm and earthy tones. Creating such palettes would encompass your wardrobe needs for the season. Suggestions include earthy tones like Terracotta, olive green, mustard yellow rich brown, and deep burgundy colors with neutrals like warm grey, creamy beige, and taupe. These colors together can create warmth and elicit the feeling of an Autumn landscape.

2. Fabric Choices

This chapter of the year demands comfort and warmth. So it's best to choose what you can carry in terms of fabric and varying temperatures. There are a variety of fabrics like breathable cotton, soft and luxurious-looking Cashmere, to classic wool fabric that can be used for outfits as well as for hijabs. Layering different fabrics would be a good idea for creating fun looks.

 3. Stylish Outerwear

Now it is time to explore trendy and fall-appropriate coats and jackets. They are good investments for the cold winters. If you live in normal temperature areas you can go for woolen capes and ponchos for a modest yet fashionable look. My recommendation for an essential wardrobe piece would be a trench coat that can be styled/ paired with any casual piece for an elegant look.

4. Fall Accessories

Selecting fall accessories totally depends on what you personally like. Highlights of the season are versatile hats, statement belts, and silk scarves that can be worn and styled in multiple ways. Exploring and trying different accessories will eventually create the customized look of your own choice. So trying is the key! (let’s try)

5. Cultural Influence

I promise you do not need to compromise your cultural influence for your own style. The good news is that you can celebrate Eastern cultural elements in your fall fashion guidelines. You can go by incorporating traditional fabrics and patterns into contemporary outfits. All you need is a little creativity to stylize yourself according to your culture.

Explore online or in stores how you can blend cultural identity with seasonal trends. Choose from handwoven fabrics and turn them into pants of fall-inspired colors. You can give your angrakha a modern silhouette with a matching coat or jacket. So playing and having fun with looks is the mantra of this season!

6. Conclusion

As an Eastern hijabi, you are not behind anyone else. You can create and try many options by staying true to cultural and religious values. The purpose of all this is to celebrate individuality and self-expression within the boundaries of modest fashion. In the end, it is all about the inspiring confidence that this individuality brings.
