Larger upper body (broad shoulders) and small lower body (narrow hip area) with no defined waistline, waist wider than your hips.

·       Rectangular:

 Straight shoulder and hip line almost of the same width with no remarkable change in the waistline. Also known as athlete body type.

·       Hourglass:

 It is characterized by having the same size of shoulders (bust area) and hip area with a narrow well-defined waistline.

You can identify your body type and can easily dress accordingly to look effortlessly flattering. Following is a short guide I have given to help you identify your body type, you can do it at home.

·       Measurements: the first thing you need is s measuring tape. Grab a measuring tape and start measuring your body, mainly focusing on your bust, waist, and hip area. remember to do it in front of the mirror so that you know you are taking the right measurements and you have a proper idea of where you started the measurement and where it ended.

Know your body type and identify your dress preferences accordingly. Keep the clothes that fit you in your wardrobe for example if you have a pear-shaped body, you should keep dresses that are narrower on the bust area and wider at the hip area similarly if you have a rectangular or any other type of body try to dress accordingly this way you would look more appealing and flattering.

While dressing try to apply the third rule. In the third rule, you divide your body into three parts (bust, waist, and hip) you should divide your body’s upper 1/3rd and lower 2/3rd parts, or you can reverse it with the upper 2/3rd body with lower 1/3rd. never divide your body into halves it would look asymmetrical.
